Look, snow happened in my home town…

Snow

“Paxton saw its first snowfall of the season around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, although there was no measurable accumulation.”  Photo from the Paxton Record.

This is what was happening in my hometown yesterday.  I think I am feeling a tiny bit nostalgic.  LOL  Not for snow, never for snow, but the thought ran through my mind that In 50 years I have driven up and down that main street thousands of times.  But then, you can never go home again.   I feel like that poor little robin walkin’ to Missouri, got a tear drop in my eye.

I didn’t do much today, a load of laundry and then a visit to Aldi’s and to Kroger where I purchased a ham and turkey for  the freezer.  I found out  last year that the turkeys are not on sale around here at Christmas, only at Thanksgiving time.  I will plan a big meal for when my son comes home next month.

My daughter and son in law took me out for supper tonight to the Rendezvous in Creve Coeur.  I had shrimp and it was very good.  Thanks guys!

Just an update to let you all know I am here, tipping my hat to all of the veterans, old and young, and thanking them for the sacrifices they make serving our country.  Have a peaceful weekend.  stay safe and be happy!

Beth

  5. If the picture was in Black and white it could almost be the last scene of "It's a Wonderful Life" Right now the temperature dipped considerably and I am yearning for the warmth of spring.

Oh snow, will not mention that too loudly. Everybody here is getting prepared this year, with snow boots etc, I am hoping we will have wasted our money - lol -

  8. No snow here YET but typically we get a dusting like that Thanksgiving or shortly after. Of course the way the weather is now..who KNOWS what will happen!

I have thought about that saying many many times. I never understood it until for me, I realized that it means that you can't go back in TIME to where you were back then. Meaning that whatever your circumstances were then, happy, sad whatever..your younger age you were when you remember back to those times, those can't be captured which is why it's a two edged sword when we DO go back and see the town and people..nothing, including us, is the same as we remember..time truly marches on.

  9. Oh Twin, you said it perfectly. Even though we would like to go back in time for a little while, we know it is not possible, that we have to live the best we know how from this day forward. With God's help I am trying to do that.

  10. What snow flew here disappeared when it hit the ground for the most part. Nice to have dinner out, especially with family.

When I look back, I'm still here, lol. Living right acrosse the street from where I grew up. Funny how some leave for far away places and others barely make it out the door.

  11. We have already had substantial snow that hung on...even a little in our back yard right now. It's been a bit warmer fortunately but I know it won't last. We've got one more album to record for Christmas today to finish off the season before we start singing live so I guess you could say my day is spoken for. Have a good day my friend.

  13. Nothing but a flurry here so far and the sun is shining bright and weather is 55 degrees. I love it..could go all winter this way if I could. I love the picture, the town looks so neat that way. I long for home just anywhere these days. Hope you have a great weekend. : )

  14. The snow came here as well for the first time this fall. It started at 12 midnight. Thankfully it wasn't that much, a lot of it melted.

  15. Like Terry I live just 2 streets over from where I grew up. With that said, time does go on but our hearts sometime linger and memories are always with us.

I can honestly say that I'm not looking forward to winter and the cold and snow. I guess though the sooner it gets here the sooner it goes away. Thinking about it though, I don't want time to fly by so I guess I won't rush things.

    Take care!

  16. Missed this one Beth, sorry, I've got two hats on with the picture, pretty ? yes, but i just don't like snow and all the baggage that comes with it. Brrrrrrrrrr.
We've been enjoying some unseasonably mild weather, which I hope lasts, got washing dry outside, and went for a nice long walk with friend Nicky and dogs then a nice lunch, life doesn't get much better.
Thanks for your visit, and I'm glad to say Avril is keeping Meg, I'm so relieved. Wrap up well. X
